This tool is an extesion of the PID Tuner. It will simultaneously tune up to four PID controllers, taking account of any interactions between them. It is intended for use where the level of interaction is mild. Using the same techniques as the MPC Matrix Analysis tool, it will first check that the controllers are correctly paired and that a stable solution exists.
As with the single PID tuner, the tool supports the leading control systems and permits the user to select the options supported by that system. Similarly the user can place limits on any tuning constant, and on MV and PV overshoot.
The tool emulates trial-and-error
tuning, but at orders of magnitude faster than that which could be achieved
manually. The end result is then simulated, permitting the engineer to explore
the response to both load and set-point changes. Controllers can be switched between auto and manual as required.
